Post Remediation Assessment

The objective of a post remediation assessment is to determine

  1. All mold contamination has been dealt with and all the site is now free of mold with reasonable certainty.
  2. Procedures and recommendations outlined in the remediation protocol document were met and the underlying cause of the mold contamination has been remedied.

It is required that a licensed mold assessment consultant conduct a post remediation assessment using both a visual and analytical approaches to undoubtedly confirm that remediation efforts have achieved the intended goal.

Underlying cause of mold

During a post remediation assessment, the consultant will attempt to determine, to the extent it is possible, that the remediation effort actually dealt with the underlying cause of the contamination. This is essential to ensure there is no relapse of mold contamination. A thorough visual inspection along with various analytical methods will be used to evaluate that the remediation contractor has achieved the results determined in the remediation protocol. The consultant must be thoroughly satisfied with the condition of the site to be able to issue a clearance report.

Assessment

The assessment of the site will include the following:

  1. Inspection of the contaminated areas that were determined in the original inspection report.
  2. Inspection of areas and aspects that were listed out in the remediation protocol.
  3. Inspection of original report, photographic evidence and corresponding remediated areas to determine the current status and remediation efforts.
  4. Air sample collection and instrument readings for a proper technical analysis of the current situation.

Passed clearance report

Once the Mold Assessment Consultant determines that remediation has been successful, he is required to issue a written “Passed Clearance” report detailing his findings during assessment. This report will include

  1. An explanation of all observations made during assessments.
  2. Details of measurements made, and sample collected.
  3. Readings of instrument data including temperature, humidity and moisture level.
  4. Lab processed report of collected sample
  5. Photographs taken during assessment.
  6. A clearance statement detailing that with reasonable certainty, the underlying causes of the mold have been treated so mold will not return.
